Earlier this morning, Don Van Vliet, better known as Captain Beefheart, died at the age of 69 due to complications caused by multiple sclerosis.





Unknown to many people, Beefheart made what can be argued as the first music video. Seen below, it is an advertisement for his at the time upcoming album, Lick My Decals Off, Baby. The original film is now stored in the MoMA archives.

One of the illest MC's ever died today. Guru from the rap duo Gangstarr fell victim to a longtime battle with cancer. If you haven't heard any of the Gangstarr material you need to do so because its good. Rest it peace Guru ("Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal")
